The new issue of Apartamento magazine arrived in the mail from Barcelona, Spain last week ands we’ve been savoring its contents. See some selected pix of some of the stunning images and layouts.
Among the highlight for us has been an interview with a Ghanaian coffin-builder and artist named Paa Jo. Following tradition, he makes custom-made coffins in the shape of beloved animals or objects that were meaningful for the deceased person. His work is pretty amazing.
There are also plenty of features on a panoply artists and designers and their living and work spaces. The interviews with artist Katherine Bernhardt and legendary Italian designer Luigi Serafini are worth the read. The photos of their homes are revealing. The decor os their personal spaces, as with so many creators, are a byproduct and reflection of their personal styles, creative impulses and world views.
There’s always so much to unpack in each edition of Apartamento. By the time the next issue arrives, we’ll undoubtedly still feel like we haven’t really finished getting through the current issue and its hundreds of pages.
