We spotted yet another vehicle adorned with artwork by the artist Kenny Scharf in Los Angeles. This one was on a former shuttle van like the kind rental-car companies and hotels use to transport customers to and from airports.
The van was parked on a light-industrial backstreet in the Playa Vista area of the city. One of Scharf’s instantly recognizable cartoon characters and his spray-painted flourishes decorate all sides of the van.
There are a lot of cars and vans around the L.A. area that have been used as canvases by the artist over the past decade. We usually stumble upon three or four each year, usually on the city’s west side. Spotting one in the wild is always kind of fun. We’ve never seen the same one twice.
