Mega-superstar Japanese artist Takashi Murakami recently decorated part of the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., with his iconic cartoon-like flowers. The project was commissioned by the non-profit organization RXArt, which collaborates with artists to create artwork for children’s healthcare facilities. It’s a great initiative to bring colorful, uplifting contemporary art to spaces that otherwise feel cold, austere and dull, if not intimidating, especially for children. Murakami’s artwork is visually cheery and completely inhabits a CT scanning room at the hospital. We love this.
