WHIPLASH: LOOKING BACK AT THE “COOL” CARS OF THE 1980s!

Did you live through the 1980s and now pine for the cars of yesteryear in some mid-life crisis-induced reverie of New Wave-era nostalgia? Yes? Ok, then the Car & Drive magazine list of the “30 Coolest Cars of the 1980s” is for YOU!

It’s a visual trip down memory lane and the decade of big hair, shoulder pads, wine coolers, Reagan-Bush, and cell phones the size of a briefcase. The list includes many luxury cars, as well as some run-of-the-mill average-Joe compacts and sub-compacts. There are Ferraris, Lambos, Bimmers, Benzes, as well as Hondas, Nissans, Mazdas, and Subarus.

Although of the cars on the list, the most quintessentially iconic vehicle of the ’80 is the Delorean (the real-life one that people could actually buy and drive for a week before breaking down, not the one with the “flux-capacitor” that could travel through time with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.)
