We’re a bit world-weary at times about art. Dare we say, a bit cynical, even. We’ve seen so much and yet still feel like we’re still just scratching the surface of all the of overwhelmingly vast corpus artwork, the good and the bad, the sublime and the bland, the great and the ho-hum flim-flammery. It can be overwhelming and one can come away with the general feeling that nothing impresses anymore. To put it another way, it takes a lot to impress. Shanghai-based Chinese artist Xu Zhen conceptual performance art installation titled “In Just A Blink of An Eye” at MOCA Los Angeles has restored the faith. It is thoroughly clever, minimalist trick that is a quiet stunner. It totally impressed us. No, “impressed” is actually not the best word here, but rather “Wowwed” is, as in “His artwork wowwed us!” It will have you saying this like “Stunning!”
