Dutch artist Guido van der Werve’s mesmerizing and beautifully minimalist short film “Nummer Acht (Everything is Going to be Alright)” is currently screening in a continuous loop in a semi-darkened side gallery at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), in New York.
We came across “Nummer Acht” again last week while at the museum, happy to have the chance to experience the film in person, projected on a large wall. The roughly 10-minute film captures the artist walking on a sheet of ice off the coast of Finland while a massive icebreaker ship menacingly plows through the frozen sea only meters behind him.
