It’s simultaneously creepy and hilarious. And it’s definitely brilliant. Using AI video technology tools and filming herself on a green screen, Scottish artist Rachel Maclean has created a video art installation called “Duck” that’s a disturbing multiverse of James Bonds. All the cinematic 007s as portrayed by various actors over the decades have been brought together in a terrifying, yet comical action-adventure short that has a totally gone-rogue and crazy Roger Moore holding Daniel Craig, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan at gunpoint while behind the wheel of a car speeding down a country road. The “Uncanny Valley” effect here is severe. Maclean acts all the parts of the various Bonds, as well as that of legendary and non-canon celebrity, Marilyn Monroe, whose cameo appearance is disturbing in that warped, generative-AI type way.
