ARTWORK BY BARRY MCGEE

Artist Barry McGee’s work has been a fixture in our memory and imagination for close to two decades now. We first experienced his art as graffiti art and then more evolved street art, as a collection of sublime human faces skewed, worn and wrinkled by the what we thought of as the effects of lives thoroughly, obscurely lived and not quite lived very well. Then later we saw his work in galleries, art fairs, and even documentary films (see the exceptional “Beautiful Losers”). It’s always a pleasure to see his paintings or flip through a monograph book of his artwork.
