In Amsterdam … “Sweepers” Street Art in The Jordaan District

20130917-092218.jpg

We like this large street art painting in Amsterdam’s Jordaan neighborhood of a man and a woman holding brooms, as if waiting to sweep up the mess of graffiti on the wall below them. We don’t know who the artist(s), but there a small “FUMS” tag in the lower right of the painting, so maybe that’s  the artist. If you know, send us an email.

Amsterdam … Street Art in De Pijp

De Pijp is a popular — if overplayed — Amsterdam neighborhood among hipsters, tourists, and expats locals alike. Not that these are mutually exclusive tribes, mind you. It’s home to a huge, famous street market, cool advertising agency offices, great cafes and lots and lots of street art, including these paintings below.

The artwork is on the side of a corner building on Fokke Simonzstraat street that’s home to the popular Boulangerie Mortier cafe and is a spot with lots of street art.

Amsterdam Street Art … Bear and Girl

“Bear Market” Street art in Amsterdam … Silhouette of a bear and girl on a building construction hoarding in central Amsterdam. This is part of a much larger commissioned street artwork that runs the length of a full city block. We like the phrases like “All systems go,” “Circus Love,” etc.. dotted around the work

“Nothing Beats Groningen” … Amsterdam Stencil Street Art

More Amsterdam street art pix … Here a stencil painting on a wall in the city’s Nine Streets neighborhood, in the canal district. The guy in the image looks like Ghandi. The Dutch phrase is loosely translated as “Nothing beats Groningen,” which is a Dutch city far north of Amsterdam.
