Living Room, Miami

Miami street art: In this case, the art is not so much street art as architectural-art object in the form of an actual building. “The Living Room” is a 2001 art work by Roberto Behar and Rosario Marquardt at the corner of 40th Street and North Miami Boulevard in the Miami Design District. The work is a giant-sized cut-away of a living room interior, with sofa, lamps, and a picture-frame window.
The art work has become a major landmark of the Design District, an uber-stylish, gentrified neighborhood that has in recent years become home to hundreds of art galleries, design showrooms, restaurants, condos and creatives offices. The art work was next to a structure that has since been torn down, and the Living Room itself is now surrounded by a chainlink fence and covered with graffiti.
